Dreams, books, and deity

thingsgotwyrd:

I had a vivid dream yesterday. It started with a large cafeteria full of people. We were all being handed special books with strange writing on the binding. We were told that if the writing glowed after we touched it that meant we were one of the 12 chosen. It did not matter which book you touched, if you were chosen it would glow. My book glowed. Someone asked how they would know if their book was broken and I explained that it’s not the book that is special. I reached over to show him. As I touched the binding of his book, it glowed, but it wouldn’t for him. Then the 12 were put into this trivia/scavenger hunt thing. I answered some questions and then things turned dangerous. We had things hunting us. Meanwhile I was searching for a book. I searched through an entire library. I was looking for The Book of Demeter. I tried using a computer to search for the Book but every time I tried to type ‘Demeter’ it would come out ‘Dmter’ or ‘Demtttr’ like I couldn’t press the right keys. Finally I tried searching the Arts section of the building/museum I was in. I found a large tome about a foot wide. It had a red cloth covering with yellow and blue flowers. It was huge. I found what I was looking for. As I went to open the cover I had to hide suddenly - someone was coming. Then the book was gone. Later a small blonde woman came up to me and handed me a book so small it fit in the palm of my hand. She said that she had to take The Book to protect it and she had to carry it on her back. It was very heavy so she shrunk it. That is when I woke.

Now I’m searching for what it all means, and for this mysterious Book.

It’s the most straightforward dream I’ve ever had. Most dreams kinda jump around but this one stayed on topic. It was like watching a movie, but being in the movie at the same time. It’s still bugging me.

Fire & Ink: To New Lokeans

lokisbruid:

Reblogging Amber Drake’s most excellent post on the myths surrounding Loki and His worship.

It has recently come to my attention that a few Lokeans are spreading complete and utter BS about what you have to do to become a Real Lokean™.
There was a post about this last year (I think) in the lokeans group on Livejournal.. I thought it was a freak occurrence, but apparently it’s still going on.

The bullshit list:

  • You have to Oath to Loki for life, ASAP
  • You have to marry Loki and become a god-spouse, ASAP
  • Lokean god-spouses are special/better/more worthy than any other kind of devotee
  • If Loki really loved you, He would marry you
  • Lokeans are specifically targeted for spirit attacks

Oathing:
You do not voluntarily Oath to a god before you have spent some years getting to know the god, and the religion in general.
Oathing is serious business, and the gods do not look kindly upon oath-breakers.

God-spouses:
You do not have to marry Loki to follow Him. God-spouses (and god-slaves/-servants) are rare. It looks like there are more than there actually are, because some of the new ones write about it on the internet.
Also it’s the deity who asks the mortal to marry them, and even then you don’t have to, and even if you do choose to marry, you can have an option for a divorce in your marriage oath.
Don’t let anyone tell you what kind of relationship you have to have with Loki. It’s between you and Him. And He is perfectly capable of letting you know what kind of relationship He should want Himself.

God-spouses are not in any way better or more worthy than other devotees.
It’s not exactly something to yearn for, either, since the gods demands much more of their mortal spouses when it comes to Work. And studying and training to be able to do the Work.

I firmly believe that the gods love all their devotees.

Spirit attacks:
Spirit attacks are rare. From what I know, violent “Poltergeist” type attacks areextremely rare.
There is no reason to go around being scared and worrying about being attacked.

The only thing you should do to follow Loki,
is to love Him, honour and respect Him.

From,
-another new Lokean

Following the Northern Star: Published heathens and conformity

skadisdottir:

I think that one of the huge challenges facing modern heathenism in its various forms is the lack of diversity in secondary sources.

In any given branch of heathenism, there are a handful of really influential writers. Granted, most of them reached that position because of their work and…

Any idea how hard it is being an unwilling atheist agnostic?

I want to believe in something more than myself yet I want that ‘thunk in the head’ so many Pagans speak of. Am I not worthy? Or am I just to dense to notice?

I guess I’ll just stick with chaos magick until I figure shit out.

⚡LET ME OUT SO I CAN RUN WITH THE WOLVES⚡: Wait let me get this straight...

rowanraidho:

Loki is a deity who singlehandedly orchestrates Ragnarok, which includes the death of most of the gods, the near extinction of mankind, and an infernal BBQ of all 9 worlds.

And you want to have a deep and personal trusting relationship with this guy?

I realize he is a complex dude. I dig…

Zeus used to rape women by turning into other things yet no one paints him with the evil brush. Lot’s of deities have a darker side but they are not nearly as looked down upon as Loki. People also worship Lucifer but I don’t see people griping about that.

How about you worry about yourself and let people walk the path that is right for them? As Pagans we ALL have enough finger wagging directed at us. Let it go.
